Mentor scheduling tips
Finding corresponding openings for busy schedules can certainly take some brainpower! It is strongly suggested that once you have a session with your Mentor coach, you immediately go into their calendar to secure your next session as you can only schedule one session at a time and their calendars fill up quickly. If you are having a difficult time finding session availability, please reach out to your Mentor Coach for further assistance. First, be aware that your mentor sessions are a requirement for the program and each mentor has the same amount of students. That means that we do not have extra mentors with which to assign students who request a change. With that in mind, there are some great approaches to this opportunity. The first is to communicate: let your mentor know your challenges. Perhaps there is some flexibility in their schedule that you are not aware of. Keep in mind, Mentors are available during normal business hours and students are expected to work within those hours in the way they would with any other business professional. Second, by applying creativity, and focusing on a solution versus the problem, we have confidence that you can come up with a solution! As most sessions are only 30 minutes long, likely once a month mentoring could be conducted before the start of your workday, or during a portion of your lunch. If you have tried the above approaches and still having a challenge, feel free to start a ticket on the Hub so that a Student Support specialist can assist you.
