Client topic tips
There are several approaches you can take when a client doesn’t know what to work on or what action to choose. First, acknowledge and validate the frustration the client may be feeling about not knowing what to do. Next, get comfortable with silence instead of giving your client an out. To do this you can simply respond with, “I have complete confidence in you that you will come up with something. I am perfectly happy to wait and am looking forward to hearing what you come up with!” You could also ask them, “What are a few things it could be?” This will help shift the energy of a client who is afraid of “getting it wrong.” Additionally, this is a great opportunity to brainstorm or explore the energy behind “I don’t know." By planting the seed in this way, your client will learn to anticipate that you’ll ask them to stretch when their immediate answer is “I don’t know.” The Wheel of Life is also an effective tool to use to ask clients to rate their satisfaction in all areas of life. Have them choose specific areas to work on when they are stuck.
