Peer coaching tips
This, at first, may seem like an intimidating challenge. However, it can be more of an exciting opportunity to help expand your client's perspective. We all have things we can work on, and you are learning the ability to help clients see that opportunity. For example, if they have no issues such that they would circle a “10” on all areas of the Wheel of Life, it’s time to start thinking about what it would look like to be at an 11 or 12 and what it would take to get there. Help them to get clear on their values.
- What are they?
- How do you define them?
- What does it look like when you’re aligned with them?
- What does it look like when someone crosses them?
There are a number of things to be coached on. It’s not about a problem, per se, or something that needs to be fixed (because nothing and no one is broken). Explore ways to expand your peer's thinking into other areas of possibility beyond what they currently see.
